Due to regulations in combination with the unique design of the Sentrel system, Aluminium balustrade installations must incorporate handrail. Our research shows that 99% of our balustrade jobs over the years have included handrail. This makes sense because it is comfortable to lean on a handrail, or put a cup of tea or a beer on it as you have a chat with your family and friends. So its your choice - aluminium or timber handrail. Both have their advantages!
Balustrade with Aluminium Handrail
The use of handrail in the Sentrel system adds substantial extra strength to the installation. This is because we design your layout so that handrail lengths go over the top of the posts and tie the panels, posts and handrail together as a complete and structural whole. Our extruded aluminium handrail clips easily into place, eliminating the use of screws and ensuring fast onsite installation.
Balustrade with Timber Handrail
The use of timber handrail in conjunction with the aluminium panels links the system together as an extremely strong, comprehensive system. Timber provides a soft, natural touch to the hard durability of aluminium. We can supply either spotted gum or merbau. Alternatively, you can supply your own handrail however it is advised that you put a 40mm x 6mm channel centred in the underside. This is so the handrail locks over the top rail of our panel and sits neatly against the brackets we provide. Go here for more information.

All Sentrel panels are made from strong 6061-T6 grade aluminium. This grade offers high performance in strength and corrosion resistance. To get an idea of how impressive this grade of aluminium along side our proprietary designed extrusion, check out the video below.
