Sentrel was a finalist in the 2021 Fencing Industry Australia awards, and was awarded 'Industry innovator'. Congratulations Brett Harrison - Sentrel's Managing Director and the Sentrel team. Brett is an industrial designer, craftsman, and creative who has worked extensively with architects, designers, photographers, and the feature film industry.
In 2007 he turned his attention to the opportunity in the fencing industry to produce a stylish and safe tensioned cable product. Prior to the development of the Sentrel System, pool fencing in cable was not possible due to the horizontal orientation of the cables that enable easy climbing.
"Competitors have come and gone over the time we have been in business. Our continued development and innovation of the product assures its place in the market as a beautiful, unique, safe, and affordable product".
Sentrel Vertical Cable Balustrade and Pool Fencing was awarded ‘Best New Product – Architectural External & Structural Products’ at Melbourne DesignEX 2011. This leading, trade only design and architecture event presents the best in contemporary and classic designs. It has been at the forefront of the design and architectural arena for over 20 years.
The award was received on behalf of Sentrel by Jennifer Fair (Sales Manager) and Louise Scott (Social media marketing). Jennifer said "With a product like pool fencing and balustrade, complying with Australian Standards is essential. The testing is rigorous. Engineer certification and quality craftsmanship are essential to us. We made it through the process and the design is still stunning! We love it".
Jen first came into contact with Sentrel by entering and winning a competition for $6,000 of Sentrel’s Pool Fencing in 2009. Jen is an interior designer and her partenr is a building designer. So, when it came to deciding about a fence for their new pool, there were a few ‘lively conversations’ between them!
"Glass might look good but needs cleaning and doesn't let the breeze through. Steel doesn't offer any kind of visual appeal to us as designers, and horizontal cable fencing has never been legal for pools. There didn't seem to be any alternatives until Sentrel came along", Jen said. Jen loved the vertical cable system from Sentrel so much that she became a shareholder in the company and is taking the business around the country with her enthusiasm and sales expertise.
Jarrod Butlin of Bago Woodworks in Wauchope manufactures the product, and is also a Director of the company. Bago Woodworks is renowned for their quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, and have been building fine furniture for years. The ‘Best Product’ award to Sentrel Australia is a testament to small business success in our state, combining the talents and skills of a design, manufacturing and sales team across 3 regional areas in New South Wales producing a high quality Australian-made product. Congratulations to Sentrel!
